JRF Applicant Profiles

The Foundation's grant making strategy employs two specific sets of instructions for responsive grant applications. The instructions that your organization should follow is determined by your JRF Applicant Profile.

Please read the criteria below to determine which profile (A or B) corresponds to your organization's applicant type. After you have identified your organization's JRF Applicant Profile, please refer to the corresponding instructions on pages 5 through 8 of the Application Guidelines for Responsive Grants to prepare a concept paper, and if invited, a formal proposal for submission.

Instructions for Profile A correspond to the following four specific applicant types:

  1. First Time - This organization has never applied for a JRF grant.*
  2. Previously Declined - This organization has applied but was never successful.
  3. Recurring with a Different Project Request - This organization has applied and was successful for the same project for one or more grant cycles, and is currently reapplying, but for a different project than the most recent grant.
  4. Post JRF-required or Self-imposed Moratorium - This organization has applied and was successful for one or more grant cycles; however, at some point JRF required a moratorium prior to eligibility for reapplication or the grantee chose not to reapply for one or more years after the previous grant. The required moratorium is concluded, and the organization is currently reapplying.

* For the first year of our new strategy, all applicants will be considered as "First Time" and must identify with "JRF Applicant Profile A." All applicants will have a "clean slate" for 2010 only, regardless of the number of times you have received a JRF grant.

Instructions for Profile B correspond to one specific applicant type only:

  1. Recurring with the Same Project Request - Applied and was successful for one or more grant cycles; and is currently reapplying for a consecutive year of funding for the same project.
